Athens Gutter Solutionists
Gutters for Athens, from antebellum Cobbham to the newer east side
Athens holds some of the oldest neighborhoods in our territory. Cobbham, laid out around 1834 and roughly bounded by Prince Avenue and Hill, Reese and Pope Streets, counts 216 historic buildings on 117 acres. The Boulevard neighborhood grew along a streetcar line in the late 1800s, with Queen Anne and Neoclassical houses on Boulevard itself and mill cottages on the side streets, and Five Points around Milledge Avenue and Lumpkin Street filled in during the 1920s. Across 30601, 30605, 30606, 30607 and 30609, about 39 percent of homes were built before 1980. Deep eaves, tall porches and old wood trim mean gutters here need careful fitting, and copper gutters often suit these houses best.
The trees came with the neighborhoods. Many Boulevard homes are still shaded by trees planted when the streets were laid out, and willow oaks, water oaks, tulip poplars, sweetgums and loblolly pines cover much of the rest of town. The NOAA normal at Ben Epps Airport is 48.95 inches a year, spread fairly evenly: June is the wettest month at 4.88 inches, but December through March each bring more than four. Wet winters on old wood are hard on fascia. The red clay is just as unforgiving here as in Gwinnett, so on sloped lots from Normaltown to the neighborhoods near Sandy Creek Park we often run downspouts into underground drainage.
Josh Bowie owns The Brothers That Just Do Gutters Northeast Atlanta. The franchise is based in Suwanee and keeps one of its four offices in Watkinsville, close enough that the crew is never far from an Athens job. Our Solutionists form new gutters on the truck, cut to each run, clean and flush existing systems, reseal joints, replace soft trim and install BroGuard and pine needle gutter guards. Every estimate is free, written and no pressure, and every review is published, good or bad.

Why the Brothers
Why Athens Homeowners Call the Brothers
On historic Athens homes we work around porches, trim and old wood, and fit gutters that suit the house instead of fighting it.
For older and high-end homes we form copper on site, matched to each run, as well as aluminum and bonderized steel.
Athens gets steady rain from December to March and heavy storms in June, so we size gutters and outlets for both.
Josh Bowie owns the franchise, with an office in nearby Watkinsville. Reach the local team at (770) 637-5130 to book a free written estimate.

Yes. Many houses in Cobbham, Boulevard and Five Points have deep eaves, porch roofs and trim that is a century old or more. We check the fascia first, replace rotted boards where needed and form seamless runs on site to fit the exact lengths. Copper is a popular choice on these homes. If your house sits in a designated historic district, check any local review requirements before work starts.
On the right house, often yes. Copper suits older and high-end Athens homes, does not rust and weathers to a dark brown and then green over the years. It costs more than aluminum, so it makes most sense where looks matter, such as a front elevation in Cobbham or Boulevard. We form copper on site and can quote it next to aluminum so you can compare.
Water is reaching the wood. A clogged gutter overflows toward the house, a gap at the back lets rain run down the board, or a loose run pulls away and drips. Older Athens homes with original wood trim feel this most during the wet winter months. We replace the soft fascia, then hang the new gutter tight to sound wood so water goes where it should.
Use a fine stainless micro-mesh guard. Loblolly needles slip through coarse screens and foam inserts, then collect in the outlet until the gutter overflows. BroGuard’s openings are small enough to keep needles, oak leaves and sweetgum balls on top, where most of them blow or wash off. A house deep under the pines may still want a quick brush of the guard surface once or twice a year.
We cover ZIP codes 30601, 30605, 30606, 30607 and 30609, including downtown, Cobbham, Boulevard, Normaltown along Prince Avenue, Five Points, the neighborhoods along South Milledge Avenue near the State Botanical Garden and the area around Sandy Creek Park. Our nearest office is in Watkinsville. Call (770) 637-5130 and we will set a time to bring your free written estimate.
