Rain gutters have one job in Northeast Atlanta: catch the water coming off your roof and put it somewhere it cannot hurt the house. On red Georgia clay that job matters more than most places, because water dumped at the foundation erodes the soil, stains brick and siding, and works its way toward basements and crawlspaces.
This part of the site covers every piece of the system we build, from seamless gutters formed in your driveway to gutter sizes, profiles, specialty metals and gutter guards. Start wherever your question is, or call and let a Solutionist walk the roofline with you.
Rain gutter options in Northeast Atlanta
Four choices make a gutter system: size, profile, metal and guard
Each choice has its own page. This guide shows how they fit together and which way most Northeast Atlanta homes lean, so you can start reading in the right place.
Every system we build starts the same way: seamless gutters formed on site from coil stock, one piece per run. After that, four decisions shape it. Size sets how much water it can carry. Profile sets how it looks from the street. The metal decides how long it lasts and how it ages. The guard decides how often anyone has to climb a ladder.
None of these get picked from a brochure. The roof decides the size, the house decides the profile and metal, and the trees decide the guard. A Solutionist walks the roofline, makes a recommendation for each in writing, and you can change any of them.
The four decisions at a glance
| Decision | Options | What decides it here | Read more |
|---|---|---|---|
| Size | 5, 6 or 7 inch | Roof area, pitch, valleys and summer cloudbursts | Gutter sizes |
| Profile | K-style or half-round, radius for curved walls | The style and age of the house | Gutter styles |
| Material | Aluminum, colored aluminum, copper, galvanized steel, galvalume | The look you want, your budget and the roof above | Specialty materials |
| Guard | BroGuard stainless micro-mesh | The trees over each side of the roof | Gutter guards |
Where many homes here land
- 5 inch aluminum K-style on simple runs, stepping up to 6 inch where valleys or big roof planes concentrate water.
- Colored aluminum matched to brick and trim on newer subdivision homes in Suwanee, Buford and Cumming.
- Half-round profiles or copper gutters on older homes around Marietta, Athens and Watkinsville.
- Galvalume gutters under a galvalume metal roof.
- Stainless micro-mesh guards on lots under pines.
- A leaf-focused guard where big oak, maple and poplar leaves are the main problem.
Notes worth bringing to your estimate
- Which corners overflow in a hard summer storm, and whether it happens right at a downspout or partway along the run.
- What trees hang over each side of the roof: pines, oaks, maples, sweetgums or tulip poplars.
- Where water pools or the clay washes out after rain.
- The trim and brick colors you want the gutters to match or disappear against.
- Any part of the house you want to look more traditional, such as a front porch or an older facade.
Why the pieces have to agree
A gutter system is only as good as its weakest choice. A 6 inch gutter feeding a small 2×3 downspout still backs up, which is why bigger gutters get 3×4 downspouts. A guard on an undersized gutter keeps the leaves out but still spills over in an inch-an-hour storm. And metals should not be mixed carelessly: two different metals touching in the rain can form a corrosive bridge, which is why a galvalume metal roof is best matched with galvalume gutters. On the red clay here, every one of those mismatches ends the same way, with water at the foundation. Your estimate lays out all four choices together so they work as one system.

We form seamless gutters on site in 5, 6 and 7 inch sizes and install K-style and half-round profiles. Materials include aluminum, colored aluminum, copper, galvanized steel and galvalume, and we can add BroGuard stainless micro-mesh guards on top. Each run is measured and cut to your roofline, not pulled off a shelf in stock lengths.
Size comes from the roof: how much area drains to each run, how steep it is and where valleys concentrate the water. Style is mostly about looks, with K-style on most homes and half-round where the gutter is part of the architecture. Material balances budget, lifespan and appearance. A Solutionist walks you through all three and puts the answer in your written estimate.
Because clay does not forgive water. Rain pouring off a roof edge with no gutter, or out of a downspout that ends at the corner of the house, erodes the soil, splashes red stains up the brick and works toward the foundation. With basements common from Lawrenceville to Johns Creek and so many lots on a slope, a system that moves water away from the house protects everything below it.
The length of the runs, the gutter size, the profile and the material drive most of the price, along with the number of downspouts and whether you add guards. Half-round and premium metals like copper cost more than standard K-style aluminum. Your free written estimate lists each piece so nothing comes as a surprise.
Far more than the roof edge. Without working gutters, water damages fascia, siding, door and window frames, decks, garage doors, driveways, walkways and landscaping, and on a sloped lot it can carve channels through the yard. The most expensive damage usually shows up last, down in the basement or crawlspace.
Yes, when they are sized and laid out for it. Summer storms here can drop an inch or more of rain in under an hour, and tropical storm remnants can keep it coming later in the season. That calls for the right gutter size on each roof plane, enough downspouts in the right spots, drainage that carries water clear of the foundation, and guards so pine needles and oak catkins do not rebuild a clog between storms.
