Quick answer
7 Inch Gutters in Northeast Atlanta, GA: 7 inch seamless gutters from The Brothers That Just Do Gutters Northeast Atlanta are built for commercial buildings, barns and very large residential roofs where even 6 inch would overflow, with oversized downspouts to match. We form them on site from coil. Call (770) 637-5130 or book online.
Most homes never need a 7 inch gutter. The buildings that do share one trait: a lot of roof draining to one edge. Shops, offices and warehouses from Lawrenceville to Gainesville, barns on larger properties and very large homes all fall into that group. For businesses, our commercial gutter team handles the full system from layout to drainage.
7 inch gutters for large roofs
Big roofs, one edge: when 7 inch is the honest answer
7 inch is a specialty size. Here is how to tell whether your building needs it, and what has to be built around it so the extra size actually pays off.
Nearly every house in our territory is well served by 5 or 6 inch gutters. The buildings that need 7 inch are the ones where an unusually large roof area drains to a single edge: offices, retail buildings, shops and warehouses from Lawrenceville to Gainesville, barns and equipment buildings on larger properties out toward Jefferson, Commerce and Dawsonville, and a small number of very large homes.
The tell is a clean 6 inch gutter that still overflows in normal rain, or a layout where several gutters empty into one. When we see either, we size up the trough and, just as important, the outlets. A 7 inch gutter draining through standard downspouts is a bigger bucket with the same small hole.
Which buildings need which size
| Building | Usual size | What drives it |
|---|---|---|
| Single-story ranch or simple two-story | 5 inch | Moderate roof area on each run |
| Large home with valleys and tall planes | 6 inch | Water concentrated at a few spots |
| Very large home with one big plane draining to a single run | 6 or 7 inch | The roof area feeding that one edge |
| Barn, shop or equipment building | 7 inch | Wide, uninterrupted roof planes |
| Office, retail or warehouse | 7 inch, laid out by our commercial gutter team | Large or low-slope roofs and several gutters draining into one |
Not sure which row you fall in? Our gutter size guide walks through the decision, and many large homes land on 6 inch gutters once the downspouts are placed well.
What a 7 inch system needs around it
- Oversized downspouts sized to the trough, not borrowed from a house job.
- More outlets on long walls, so no single downspout drains the whole roof.
- Conductor heads where a big section empties into one downspout, holding the surge while the pipe catches up.
- Hangers set close enough to carry a wide trough full of water and wet leaves.
- Solid fascia or proper backing to fasten into along the full length.
- A plan for the discharge, often piped underground across the lot.
- A cleaning schedule, because a big trough holds a big load of debris.
Keeping a large system working
A 7 inch gutter along a barn roofline or a warehouse wall collects far more than a house gutter. Pines drop needles on it all year, the spring catkins and pollen pile up from March to May, and the oaks, maples and sweetgums unload from October through the end of the year. Putting the building on our maintenance program gets it cleaned before pollen season and again after the leaves are down. At the ground, underground drainage carries the volume from oversized downspouts away from foundations, parking areas and walkways, where red clay would otherwise wash out.

Why the Brothers
Why Northeast Atlanta Property Owners Call the Brothers
We size 7 inch systems for the hard storms this region gets, then make sure the downspouts can keep up. A big gutter is only as good as its outlets.
Commercial or residential, our crews spend every day on gutters and drainage. That focus shows on large, complicated roofs.
With offices in Suwanee, Marietta, Ball Ground and Watkinsville, we can reach a building anywhere in the territory to measure it.
This franchise is locally owned and operated by Josh Bowie and backed by a brand founded in 1999. You get local accountability with a long track record behind it.

When a clean 6 inch system still overflows in normal rain, when the roof sends more water than 6 inch can carry, or when several gutters drain into one. They are built for commercial buildings, barns and very large homes, paired with oversized downspouts.
No. Commercial buildings and barns use them most, but very large homes do too, especially where one big roof plane drains to a single run. On commercial jobs around Northeast Atlanta we use 7 inch on long or low-slope roof planes and anywhere a large roof area feeds one gutter.
That is the kind of rain they are built for. When the remnants of a tropical storm stall over North Georgia in late summer or fall, a large roof can send water for hours without a break. A 7 inch trough with enough oversized outlets keeps up, where a smaller system backs up and spills down the wall.
Yes. A 7 inch gutter carries more water than standard downspouts can move, so it gets oversized downspouts and often more of them. We work out the outlets from the roof area and how hard the rain falls, because a big trough with too few downspouts still overflows.
If a clean 6 inch gutter spills in normal rain, the roof is probably sending more water than it can carry, or several gutters are draining into that one run. Moving to 7 inch with oversized outlets, or adding downspouts in the right places, usually fixes it.
Yes. We form 7 inch runs on site from coil, just like our 5 and 6 inch, so a long commercial wall in Lawrenceville or Winder gets one continuous piece instead of sections joined every twenty feet. Call (770) 637-5130 to set up a measurement.
