Work that never gets a quiet season

Why Georgia gutters keep our crews busy all year

A lot of people in Northeast Atlanta are one good opportunity away from a real trade. Gutter work is a skilled trade that is hard to outsource, and homeowners here need it every single year.

Georgia gutters never get a quiet season. Pollen and oak catkins load them every spring, from March into May. Pine needles fall year round. Summer thunderstorms can drop an inch or more of rain in under an hour, which is more than a clogged or undersized gutter can handle. Tropical storm remnants roll through in late summer and fall. Then from October through December the oaks, maples, sweetgums, tulip poplars and pines let go of everything they have, right on top of the pine straw that never stops.

Underneath all of it is red Georgia clay, which erodes, stains and does not forgive water that lands at the foundation. Basements are common here and many lots slope, so homeowners care a lot about where their roof water goes. That is why they call for cleanings, repairs, guards, underground drainage and full replacements in every season, and why our schedule does not go quiet when the weather turns.

Our crews work out of Suwanee, with offices in Marietta, Ball Ground and Watkinsville, so the crew is never far from the job. The territory covers 86 ZIP codes, from Gwinnett, North Fulton and East Cobb up through Forsyth, Cherokee and Hall, and east to Athens and Watkinsville.

The homes you will work on

You will spend your days on homes across Suwanee, Duluth, Lawrenceville, Buford, Alpharetta, Johns Creek, Cumming, Canton, Woodstock, Gainesville, Winder, Athens and Watkinsville. The housing keeps the work interesting, because each kind of house teaches you something different.

  • Brick ranch homes from the 1960s to 1980s in Tucker, Lilburn, Norcross and Stone Mountain.
  • Two-story traditional and new-construction subdivisions across Gwinnett and Forsyth.
  • Larger homes with complex rooflines in Johns Creek and Alpharetta.
  • Lake homes around Lake Lanier in Gainesville, Flowery Branch and Cumming.
  • Older homes and historic districts around Athens, Marietta and Watkinsville.
  • Sloped lots and basements where every downspout has to carry water away from the house.

Two ways in, three openings

Entry level installer, experienced installer or Solutionist

This is the part people do not expect: we hire entry level. Here is how the openings line up, using only what our current postings say.

Gutter Installers are the reason a home stays dry through a Georgia summer thunderstorm. You form seamless gutters on site from a coil on the truck, cut every run to the exact length of the roofline and hang it so the water goes where it should. The same crews handle repairs, cleanings, BroGuard micro-mesh guards, fascia and drainage. Solutionists handle the sales side, and we do not call anyone a salesman. You visit homes where someone asked for an estimate, walk the roofline, figure out what the house actually needs and write a clear, honest quote.

Entry Level Gutter InstallerLearn to form, hang and fix seamless gutters, with training on the Brothers system from day one.Listed as full time. Pay range listed up front on the posting.A willingness to learn a trade and work hard. You do not need to have hung a gutter before.
Experienced Gutter InstallerSeamless installs, repairs, cleanings, BroGuard guards and drainage.Listed as full time. Pay range listed up front on the posting. You already know gutters and want a clear path to the next raise and promotion.
Solutionist (Sales)Scheduled visits with homeowners who asked for an estimate. Measure, photograph and diagnose the roofline, then write a clear, honest estimate.Listed as full time. Several current sales postings list a company car, a performance bonus and a flexible schedule.Construction, roofing, home services or field sales experience helps. Curiosity, honesty and reliability matter more.

What we look for

  • You show up on time and finish what you start.
  • You work hard in the heat and do not cut corners when nobody is watching.
  • You are comfortable on a ladder, or willing to learn the right way.
  • You can talk to a homeowner like a neighbor.
  • You take pride in a clean, straight line.
  • You want a career path, not just a job.

What you do not need

  • Gutter experience, for the entry level installer opening.
  • To guess at the pay. Every opening shows its pay range first.
  • Your own truck. We bring the training and the trucks.
  • A pushy sales style. Solutionists would rather be honest than pushy.
  • A perfect resume. Construction, sales and home services backgrounds are all welcome.
  • To figure it out alone. We train you on the Brothers system.

A day on the crew

A real day on the Northeast Atlanta crew, from the first stop to clean-up

This is what the job actually looks like, from loading the box truck in the morning to the last scrap picked up.

  1. Load up and roll out.Check the day’s jobs, load the box truck and head out to homes across Northeast Atlanta.
  2. Read the house.A brick ranch in Gwinnett, a new build in Forsyth and an older home around Athens all drain differently. You look at the roofline, the fascia and where the water needs to land.
  3. Form it right there.Seamless gutters come off the machine on the truck, cut to the exact length of the roofline. You guide the run off the machine and carry it across the yard.
  4. Hang it straight and tight.Set the pitch for Georgia downpours so the water runs to the downspout, then seal the corners and outlets.
  5. Guard and test.Add guards where the homeowner wants them, then test the system so you know it drains the way it should.
  6. Leave it better.Walk the job with the homeowner, clean up every scrap and head to the next one.

And a day as a Solutionist

A Solutionist’s day runs on scheduled visits with homeowners who already asked for an estimate. You walk the roofline, measure, photograph and diagnose the problem, explain it in plain language and write a clear quote. Some days that means a full seamless installation. Some days it means telling someone their gutters just need two hangers and a cleaning. Several of our current sales postings list a company car, a performance bonus and a flexible schedule, so check the posting for the details.

How you grow

Start entry level, grow into a trade

We hire at two installer levels, and our postings describe a skills ladder that shows you every step in between and beyond.

Our entry level installer opening is for people who want to learn a trade and are willing to work hard, and we train you on the Brothers system from day one. Our experienced installer opening is for people who already know gutters and want a clear path to the next raise and promotion. Connecting the two is a skills ladder that lays out every step of the path, what is expected at each level and what it takes to earn the next raise. No guessing about where you stand.

What you will be good at

Every new team member learns the Brothers system. On the install side that means forming and hanging seamless runs in aluminum, copper or bonderized steel, sizing gutters and downspouts for real Georgia downpours instead of the minimum, setting pitch, and handling repairs, fascia, guards and drainage. On the Solutionist side it means reading a roofline, diagnosing what the house needs and writing a quote a homeowner can trust.

Every run you hang keeps a home dry for years. You will drive past your work all over Northeast Atlanta. If you want to know exactly what each step of the ladder looks like, ask when you call (770) 637-5130.

The people behind the trucks

How this team treats people, customers and crew alike

A local owner, four local offices and a national brand that only does gutters. Here is how that shows up on the job.

Josh Bowie owns and runs The Brothers That Just Do Gutters Northeast Atlanta from Suwanee, so you are working for a local owner, not a faceless corporate office. He runs the business to give this part of Georgia a team that treats the roofline like the system it is. You can read more about the team on our About page.

Behind the local team stands The Brothers That Just Do Gutters, the national brand founded in 1999 by brothers Ken and Ryan Parsons. It has done nothing but gutters since, and it calls its people Solutionists, not salespeople. That name is the whole philosophy: the job is to solve the homeowner’s problem.

What that looks like on a job

  • Estimates are written, itemized and free. Repair when repair is right, replace when it is not.
  • A local number and a local team. Nobody gets routed to another state.
  • Every review is published, good or bad. Nothing bought, nothing edited.
  • Four offices, so the crew is never far from the house.
  • Every job site gets cleaned up before the crew moves on.
  • Pay ranges are posted up front on every opening.

Homeowners name the crew, and the owner

Our Suwanee Google rating is 4.8 across more than 450 reviews, and we publish every one. Read them and you meet the people you would work beside. One homeowner wrote about “the integrity and quality of The Brothers That Just Do Gutters and especially its owner, Josh Bowie,” and said “he and his employee, Omar, have provided exceptional and courteous service.” Another described how “both the installer and owner worked together to make sure the work was done efficiently and correctly.” A third said the crew “fit every downspout perfectly to every contours of the house.” That is the standard you would be joining.
